Public meetups for high-value cards
Bank lobbies, police-adjacent parking, and counting cash basics.
A local card meetup is faster and simpler than shipping for both sides. It also requires more judgment about where, when, and how the handoff happens. These are the principles we use and recommend.
Location first
The location matters more than anything else in a local transaction. The best locations:
**Police department lobbies and adjacent parking.** Many police departments officially promote their parking lots as safe exchange zones for online transactions. The presence of cameras and proximity to law enforcement makes this the safest option for high-value lots.
**Bank lobbies.** You can count and verify cash inside. Good lighting, cameras, typically public during business hours.
**Large retail parking lots (during daytime).** Well-lit, high foot traffic, cameras. Not ideal for high-value meets, but fine for small lots.
Avoid: private residences, isolated parking areas, late evening times, anywhere with limited visibility or foot traffic.
Logistics for the meetup
**Bring a second person if possible.** They don't need to do anything — their presence is a deterrent and a witness. For any lot over $200, strongly recommended.
**Verify the cards before money changes hands.** Briefly page through the binder or scan the lot to confirm it matches photos. You're not doing a full grading session — you're confirming you received what you agreed to.
**Count cash out of direct sun.** Sunlight makes it easy to miss a bill or misread a denomination. Step into shade or go inside.
**Use the agreed currency.** Cash or a specific digital method (Venmo, PayPal Goods & Services) confirmed in writing beforehand. Avoid last-minute payment method changes.
Red flags
Trust your instincts on these:
- Meeting location change at the last minute (especially to somewhere less public) - Pressure to decide quickly or arrive immediately - Lot that looks different from photos — different card count, different condition, suspicious sealed product - Payment method change at the meeting
If something feels wrong, the collection is not worth the risk. A legitimate buyer or seller will not have a problem with you walking away.
What we do
At Crown Collectibles, we coordinate meets in public Cincinnati and NKY locations after we've aligned on the lot in writing. We propose the location in the quote thread and confirm it before the meetup day. You always know where you're going before you leave.
What to send us
Use the quote form to start. If you're local to Cincinnati & NKY and prefer a local handoff, mention it in the notes field. We'll confirm logistics in writing after the initial range.
